After graduating from college, Gretchen Hollingsworth had no idea what career path she would like to pursue. During this time of examining her options, Gretchen and her girlfriends would get together each week to construct a creative project and to catch up with the current news of each other's lives. Gretchen, who is a born leader, was the first appointed to bring a craft project to the table and she chose to try out the old-style technique of hand pouring candles. Thus, because of a "knicknack paddywhack" awakening, the idea of Paddywax Candles was born.
Making hand poured candles quickly became a hobby for Gretchen and soon would become a career after she met and married a tutor by the name of David Duncan. David relished a worthy challenge and brought a sharp sense of business to the company. David and Gretchen's outlook is to keep the work fun, in order to make a happy atmosphere for the company's employees and customers. They started out in their kitchen with five dollars to their name, when they were young and free spirited, but the birth of two daughters has taught them to never let the company come before time with the family.
Paddywax Candles are eco-friendly, clean burning and hand-made with a light aroma from a combination of scents that are never overpowering. All of the candles are soy-based and may bring a solution to the candle lover who is looking for a mild scent. Many candle scents can be overwhelming for people who are sensitive to strong smells, because they can leave them with burning eyes and headaches, but for some people a Paddywax Candle will not trigger these allergies.
Paddywax Candles came about when a group of female friends began getting together each week to construct a creative project.
