Lafco Candles were appreciated from the moment they were launched and there is now a candle to enhance every room in every home. Lafco New York has introduced collections of some of the most distinctive 18th century fragrances because they exclusively import medicinal herbs and formulations from the world’s oldest pharmacy of Santa Maria Novella. First opening in 1210, this old Florentine apothecary created a fragrance called “Water of the Queen” for the wife of King Henry II of France: Catherine de Medici. Later, this scent became widely popular when it made available under the name of “Eau de Cologne".
Lafco "Luxury Articles and Fragrance Company" began in 1993 when Jon Bresler took a risk and left his legal profession to fulfill his dream of achieving fragrances and luxury products in the European tradition. His company has accomplished the finest luxury articles & fragrances in the world and still sells the first products he introduced, which are five hard milled soaps from Claus Porto in Portugal. To this day, these soaps (the foundation upon which LAFCO NY was built) are still loved and used faithfully by many of his clients.
Every aspect of the company has an engaging history, which includes its founding. Bresler was tired of his career as a litigation lawyer and moved to Switzerland, where he began working as a speech writer for a drug company. While working, he met a “Just Lady” (similar to an American Avon lady) who sold heavenly-smelling natural anti-stress oils and cleaning products. At that moment, Bresler told himself that he wanted to be the next “Just Lady".
Bresler soon changed his career path again and started importing luxury bath products starting with the small soap producing Portuguese factory that produced the first items that he sold. Before long, Santa Maria Novella came to an agreement with Lafco and decided that they would be the official importer and distributor of its production. Around the same time, Lafco Candles were also introduced in the US market and have become some of the most respected and favored candles on the market.
All of the candle lines are remarkable, for they inspire the senses, blend with any room and grace the decor by complimenting the atmosphere of the home. The House & Home candle collection has gone beyond expectations, for each candle is designed for a specific room and has an incredible fragrance blended in France. They come in large, reusable, hand-blown glass vessels that are strikingly appealing and burn for over 90 hours.
Lafco NY is responsible for bringing some of the most articulated candles to the industry, spoiling the consumer with the pure elegance of their beautifully boxed and wrapped candles of the most exquisite fragrances. For the past 17 years, Lafco has put their heart and soul into proving themselves, and it is without a doubt they will continue to introduce more innovative collections of candles.
Lafco Candles are beautifully designed, lusciously scented and intricately boxed and wrapped. They are perfect for keeping on hand for a ‘spur of the moment’ gift for a special friend or loved one, if you can keep from spoiling yourself with them. Two of our favorites from the Dream Home Collection are the Beach House and Ski House Candle.
Lafco Ski House (Feu De Bois) Candle
The OUTDOORSY Candle! The Ski House Candle will remind you of the end of a long day of skiing by surrounding you with crisp mountain air, burning cedar logs and a light smell of evergreen fir.
Lafco Beach House (Sea and Dune) Candle
The REJUVENATING Candle! Just as a long relaxing walk on the beach, the Beach House Candle will awaken the senses with mysterious scents of the sea mixed with Blue Lotus, Cyclamen and wild grasses.
The Lafco Kitchen (Orange Cilantro) Candle from the House and Home Collection is another one that we must recommend.
This SCRUMPTIOUS candle should be in every kitchen! The Lafco Kitchen Candle will set the background with a fruity scent of cilantro, mandarin and watercress, enhancing all of those mouthwatering aromas of a delicious dinner being prepared. A dinner party hostess would be pleasantly surprised to receive a gift of a Lafco Orange Cilantro Candle.
